Copper ore is most commonly found beneath beach biomes, though it can generate throughout the Overworld between levels -16 and 112. For a more in-depth look at ore distribution in Minecraft 1.20, be sure to check out one of our other guides. The best y-levels to find copper are 47 and 48, where it tends to spawn most frequently. Typically, copper ore appears up to six times per chunk in clusters ranging from 0 to 16 blocks. If you need help locating chunks in Minecraft, we suggest using the Badlion Client to view chunk borders. Copper ore veins tend to be larger on average in dripstone cave biomes. To mine copper, you’ll need at least a stone pickaxe or something stronger. Breaking a copper ore block will drop raw copper, which can be smelted into copper ingots. Additionally, Drowned mobs have a chance to drop copper when defeated.

Copper is used for crafting a SpyGlass, or the Lighting Rod. It is most notable for it's decorative look.
